After having developed the basic skills of paragraph writing (in S1), the students will move on to the level of the essay. The second semester will have as an objective the development of students' essay writing skills mainly through:
- providing an introduction to essay writing and its main objectives.
- presenting the structure and the key parts of essays.
- helping students with writing techniques that facilitate and improve their essay writing skills.
The essay elements which are new to the students, mainly the introductory and the concluding paragraphs, will be given particular attention. The students will learn how to write them by considering model paragraphs of different types and following their structural developments.
The course will also allow the students to explore some types of essays which have special thematic and structural developments.
