This chapter introduces the key elements of a vehicle's chassis and body. The chassis, including the frame and suspension and transmission systems, is the basic structure. Important dimensions such as wheelbase and ground clearance influence stability. The body, in turn, protects the vehicle and optimizes aerodynamics. Finally, the sheet metal and paint ensure the maintenance, repair and aesthetics of the vehicle.

Although the term Computer-Assisted Design is sometimes used, Computer-Aided Design remains the standard.
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) en anglais , ou Conception Assistée par Ordinateur (CAO) , fait référence à l'ensemble des méthodes et des outils informatiques utilisés pour concevoir, modéliser et tester les produits avant leur fabrication. Il est largement utilisé dans divers domaines tels que l’ingénierie, l’architecture, la mécanique, l’électronique et le design industriel.
