This course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge in virology, mycology, and phycology, with particular emphasis on microalgae, especially cyanophyceae (cyanobacteria). It focuses on identifying the major differences between viruses and other pathogenic agents, and on understanding the genomic and structural diversity of viruses.
The course also introduces the general morphology and cellular organization of fungi, the types and mechanisms of fungal reproduction, and the criteria used for fungal classification. In addition, students will gain an understanding of the mechanisms of action of antimicrobial agents and the various fields of application of microorganisms.
